Me on the Map!

Today, we read Me on the Map, by Joan Sweeney, we are working on booklets where we put ourselves on our own maps! Project and topic pics to come!

Mad Max

This is our new friend, Mad Max, he exploded on us after we shared things that make us mad. Then we talked about better self-control strategies so we don't explode!!! (This idea was from Teacher Tipster, if you haven't googled his videos you should asap!)

JITTER JUICE!

Last week we brainstormed what would be in Jitter Juice, read a poem, and then tasted this yummy drink. We graphed who liked and disliked the juice...and WHEW! All 18 reported that they liked it! I felt like quite the cook! :)

First Full Day!

After reading Chrysanthemum, by Kevin Henkes, we started our first name celebration. We chanted, cheered and whispered a child's name. Each week a new student will be drawn and the class will complete an awesome packet by http://carriedawayink.blogspot.com/. To continue our name exploration we used a bar graph to show the number of letters in our name.

Thank You!

My Team Teacher surprised me with this cute "You're Going to Be a Hit!" treat! Cute and clever! :)

First Day Jitters!

I have been working in my room today trying to get everything in order before my kiddos arrive at 8 AM tomorrow morning. I am so excited to see them! We will be reading books, playing get-to-know you games and learning about school procedures. (And hopefully curing those first day jitters!) It will be a great day!

*Also, parents don't forget to read your SWEET DREAMS bedtime book with your child. Trust me, the Jitter Glitter is a must!

Thank you to my principal! She left notes of encouragement in our boxes for the first day of school. As you can see my chocolate didn't even last until I took the pic! Yummy! :)

Meet the Teach!

Last night I finally got my classroom ready for my students and "Meet the Teacher" night. It was an awesome time to meet my new students and connect with families. I feel so blessed to be at HES. Here are a few pics:

Welcome!

Today I sent out welcome letters to all my new second graders! We will be doing an "Around the World"  theme this year. My team teacher wrote an awesome letter for us and I decided to create my own letter format with the theme using free TPT borders and clipart from a variety of creators. (Credits are below) I can't believe it's this time already. I absolutely cannot wait to meet my students!
